About Us

North Star Communications is a media production and syndication company based in Washington, D.C., since 1994. We specialize in creating and producing national and regional radio features, special series, documentaries, and radio media tours. Our programming is available to radio stations nationwide via satellite or compact discs.

North Star Communications provides production, marketing and distribution services to corporations, associations, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Our database includes over 600 public radio stations and 3000 commercial stations with a variety of formats.

North Star Communications specializes in helping clients produce radio programs to reach a diverse audience.

– a series of two-minute segments focusing on African American contributions to American history with host, Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

Jazz Is…In the Arts – a 13 part radio series examining the influence of jazz on the lives of special guests: Gordon Parks, Maya Angelou, Harry Belafonte and others with our host jazz legend Jon Hendricks.

Paul Robeson: A Tribute to My Friend – a radio documentary featuring Lloyd Brown, former Robeson biographer and archival interviews with Paul Robeson.

From Rhythm and Blues: Crossing the Color Line – a radio documentary series reflecting on the racial, social and historical events in music history that led to the creation of rock and roll music, with host Julian Bond.

Civil Rights Profiles – a series highlighting the achievements of famous Civil Rights leaders, with host Julian Bond.
